Here’s my thoughts on music…
“Three notes in the right place says more than three hundred notes all over the place.”
Greg Sardinha has the reputation as “the steel guitar player who does it his way.” He takes the Hawaiian steel guitar where it’s never been before, using his “thinking out of the box”philosophy, combined with the ability to present old Hawaii with a contemporary twist.
After years of playing in the background for many of Hawaii’s recording artists, Greg Sardinha released his first solo album in 2006, entitled HAWAIIAN STEEL VOL 4 – Artistry of Greg Sardinha. The album reflects Greg’s artistry and versatility, showing that he is an accomplished player with the ukulele, guitar and Hawaiian steel guitar, creating a feel of unusual textures and interplay between all the instruments. He is also a recipient of Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Instrumental Album of the year in 2014 for his “Stainless” – Steel Guitar Stylings of Greg Sardinha.
Greg has showcased his Hawaiian steel guitar talent, performing locally in Hawaii and abroad. He’s contributed to numerous projects as recording artist/session musician with a variety of Hawaii’s top performers, adapting the Hawaiian steel guitar to a diverse group of musical styles: traditional Hawaiian, contemporary Hawaiian, reggae, country rock and folk. His discography includes work on over a hundred albums as an instrumentalist and/or producer.
